About the business

A well-established technology business operating across Australia. It carries sensitive data across multiple sites, and it is early in maturing its cyber security posture. The technology and IT capability is being built out, and cyber security is a core part of that build.

The opportunity

This is the first senior cyber security appointment in a wider technology build. The cyber security function does not exist yet. You create it.

You report into the technology leadership building the capability. At the start there is no team beneath you, so you set the strategy and do the work, then scale and hire as the function grows.

You own cyber security end to end. The strategy, the standards, the controls and the roadmap. You are the secure-by-design partner to the architecture, data and AI agenda, and the person the business trusts on risk.

Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

What you’ll own

Strategy and standards. Define the cyber security strategy, standards, controls and roadmap from a clean start. Set the posture for a business carrying sensitive data across multiple sites.

Build and scale. Operate hands-on while the function is small. Build the team and hire into it over time. Establish the governance and risk practices the business runs on.

Partnership across technology. Act as the secure-by-design partner to architecture, data and AI. Carry the business and its leadership on risk, weighed commercially.
