Exclusive search for a senior backend engineer to build agentic AI capabilities and take them from concept through to production. You join a strong engineering team, own the technical decisions, and ship the features that shape where the products go next.

The backend is cloud-first and the problems are hard. AI-assisted engineering is already how the team works, so tools like Claude Code run through everything you do, from writing code to reviewing it and documenting it.

Sydney CBD. Hybrid, two days a week in office.

What you’ll own

Backend and cloud. Build backend applications in a cloud-first environment, ideally on AWS. Design for scale and reliability, and make the architecture calls that come with owning production systems.

Applied AI. Develop AI-driven features and automation, and own the delivery of agentic capabilities from first idea to production use.

Engineering standards. Drive modern engineering practice and continuous improvement across the team, using AI-assisted tools to lift both quality and pace.

Delivery across teams. Work with product and other functions to turn hard technical problems into outcomes customers feel.

What you’ll bring

• Strong backend development experience in .NET, Java or a similar object-oriented language. The team cares more about engineering capability, problem-solving and learning agility than any single stack, so a strong engineer from another background is welcome.
• Advanced proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, used across development, documentation, code review and day-to-day workflow.
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-based solutions, ideally in AWS.
• A product mindset and solid engineering fundamentals, with care for quality and for how things get built.
• Comfort owning complex problems end to end and working across functions to solve them.
• Full working rights in Australia and based in Sydney. This role has no sponsorship and no remote option.
